My Record Logo
I decided to use the name 'Orbit Record' for my record label. The word orbit symbolises the world and the Earth orbiting the Sun or Moon orbiting the Earth, showing the circle and mention of life, also foreshadowing the shape of a record as the are is orbits round a record player. I also used the word record as it is a record label company and also had a natural flow to the word orbit.
This is my first logo idea. I have followed the other R'n'B record label logos and stuck to a black and white canvas. The title of the record label is stood in the centre of the image in a clear black consistent font. There are then 2 circles which 'orbit' the title, this slight image links with the idea of the world and sharing as well as symbolising the word orbit. The inner circle is thicker than the outer circle, this was to create a more interesting composition, also the writing is quite thick therefore the thin line doesn't make the image look to bold.
This is my second idea for my record label logo. I've used an image of a record for my background, this was to symbolise the word 'record' within my logo title, this idea was inspired by 'Jive'. I think use the same font for the word 'orbit'. The word is curved within the record as if the word was orbiting the record therefore making it look slightly like a pun. The record is black and white which is very simple however by making the writing blue the adds colour as well as allow it to stand out a bit more. The colour blue symbolises the earth and water as well as purity and emotion which the lyrics in R'n'B music are. Looking at this logo and the logo above this logo doesn't look as if it'll fit in with other record label logos because it looks to amateurish and fake therefore so far I think the top image is more than likely to look more natural.
This is my final idea for my record logo. I followed the idea from my first logo in creating a boarder, this I found gave it a nicer finish and other record labels such as 'Discord Record' and 'Motown' do the same thing. For this idea I stuck to the black and white colour's as I felt it looked more professional and tidy. In terms of the writing I used two variations of the same font therefore making them look slightly different but still very similar. Roc Nation used different colours for each of their words therefore I put on my own twist and kept the colours the same by changed font for each of the words. This logo looks more modern compared to he other two above. The font of this logo creates a rock/ hip hop vibe therefore making it look more genre pacific.
With these 3 logo's above I have decided to use logo one for my final. This is because it look's older than the other logos and as if it could fit in with the others. This logo is plain but gets the name of the record label across, the 2 circles around the title create a neat shape and final logo. The black and white colour scheme is bold and clear. The second logo I feel is to cartoon like and looks quite childish and immature, the third image I like however looking at it now I feel the font looks to rock/ heavy metal like.
