Pop History

Pop Music

Pop music stands for 'popular music' as it has a mass audience. It formed in the 50's from the Rock 'n' Roll genre. It's slightly a hybrid genre as it includes other genres such as folk, hip hop and jazz. The common theme within pop is the song layout, pop songs commence with a verse which is followed by a course then the whole process starts again, sometimes the course is repeated more than once towards the end. Pop over the years has really changed however the music videos are usually more creative.
The music videos within Pop usually have a narrative with some elements of lip singing as well but not very often is live performance used. The video above is a really old pop song from the 70's despite is being old the structure of the song is still similar to todays pop songs.
