R'n'B Character

R'n'B Characters

The characters which are used in R'nB are stereotypically shown as rich which is portrayed through their costume and jewellery, the females have their hair styled and have make-up on however the make-up isn't overpowering and is quite subtle but highlights different facial features like the eyes and lips, the males on the other hand either have short black hair or wear a hat therefore cannot see their hair, this 'gangster' style which is portrayed in men as it's make to make them look more masculine. The females costume aren't normally to revealing however a shorter top or skirt might be used to make them look more flattering. In some music videos there is a narrative which is portrayed throughout therefore the singers multi-role as the characters within the story. The way the artist is portrayed in the music video aren't always their natural appearance however the production company make them look this way in order to have more views and to promote their music.
Most R'n'B music videos have some sort of shot of the artist and they are normally included within the video however they aren't always the only character. Additional cast/ characters are used in music videos to set the scene, for example a party scene requires a mass cast in order to create the right atmosphere in order to make the music video look more exciting and busy. Males and females are portrayed the same as the singers however the camera shoots which are used make it clear of their importance in comparison to the artists in the music video.
