Rap Music
Rap music first commenced in the early 1970's in America. It was seen as a type of street art as talking fast to a beat was seen as impressive. African American teenage's where the main target audience for this genre of music. Rapping involves speaking or chanting to the rhythm of a beat. The addressed subjects within this genre was stereotypically sex, violence and political issues. One of the first rap songs is below. It doesn't come equipped with a music video where its so old however as it's one of the first songs of the genre it amazed the audience therefore there're lots of live videos.
One Sugarhill Gang realised these song other rap artists started to surface such as Run-DMC. In the early 1980's rap songs were being placed in the top charts and creating a strong new genre which was imbed mainly for males. In the 1990's rap had an upgrade as the beat became louder and the lyrics became more complex, artists such as Snoop Dogg, experimented with the new style and not long before it's time came into the charts.
